- Area Updates & Motions:
- District 8 will host the May 2026 Post-Conference Assembly; host positions remain open for September and 2026 assemblies.
- AA website links have been updated, and the Service Manual price will increase starting May 1 (ordering info and PDF available online).
- Avi was elected as Alternate Chair following legacy voting.
- Motion passed to reimburse the Alt Tech Chair for mileage (4 opposed, no minority opinion shared).
- Archives received approval to spend up to $500 on recording equipment for oral history projects.
- Literature Discussions:
- Living Sober, the most-sold AA book since 1975, has not been significantly updated and is missing content on topics like the internet, finding meetings, and podcasts.
- Suggestions included revising the book (possibly retitling it) to reflect current social norms and help keep AA relevant amid perceived membership decline.
- A vote was held to provide the Delegate with guidance on this update.
- Other Literature Updates:
- The 12 Concepts, currently in the Service Manual, were recommended for inclusion in future editions of the 12 & 12 or a new 12,12 & 12 publication—this suggestion was broadly supported.
- Illustrated Concept 12 pamphlets and Big Book revisions are in progress.
- For the Big Book update: 2,393 member stories were reviewed, narrowed down to 159 for further consideration, with plans to keep approximately 11 stories from the current 4th edition.

- The next work sessions will be held on May 10th and 17th from 9 AM to 12 PM at Go Store It in Quincy.
- The committee will bring poster boards to upcoming events to showcase their work.
- Recording equipment has been purchased to begin conducting interviews.
- Ahead of the Mass State Convention in November, they plan to visit different districts to recruit speakers.
- Corrections (Courtney)
- The committee is reaching out to facilities to offer free AA literature.
- Volunteers are especially needed for the Friday Men’s Big Book meeting in Plymouth.
- South Bay currently has no wait time for orientation if you’re looking to get involved quickly.
- If you’re interested in Corrections service, you don’t need to be a speaker—there are other ways to help, like coordinating with facilities about literature.
- Joint Treatment Facilities (Mike C)
- The Area is exploring joining the Worcester Intergroup Calendar System, which helps track treatment commitments across different groups.
- This system allows groups to see and sign up for available commitments, and shows which groups are bringing meetings into treatment facilities.

- Most of the discussion focused on the Area Assembly held on April 6.
- There are ongoing issues with the Area 30 website calendar—they are working on a fix, but the Google Calendar version is functioning properly.

- Financial approval was granted to cover travel for the Alt Tech Chair, ensuring two tech team members can be present at each Assembly.

- Confirmed Details:
- Date & Time: Saturday, June 21st, from 5:30–7:30 PM (access to the hall begins at 4 PM).
- Location: Quincy Point Congregational Church (where the district meets).
- Cost of Hall : $175 for the hall, though this will likely be waived if we help set up for their coffee event that morning.
- Planning Notes (Still in Discussion):
- Expecting around 75 attendees, though attendance could be 100+.
- Pizza will be ordered from several local spots (Potentially: Bravo, Alumni, Schoolhouse); most of the $2,000 budget will go toward pizza and beverages.
- Exploring options for air ventilation if the weather is hot.
- Event structure (subject to confirmation at the May District meeting):

- 6:00–7:00 PM: Speakers & Committee Chair presentations

- Accessibilities Committee: Currently in need of an alternate chair and a host for the September 14th Assembly.
- General Service Contributions: Checks should now be made out to "GSC Eastern Mass."
- The Hispanic District is welcoming new groups from the Springfield and Holyoke areas.
- Discussion ongoing regarding potential district mergers; topic will be revisited at the DCM Roundtable on 3/24.
- The next Pre-Conference Assembly is scheduled for 4/6.

- Fred is the new Archives Chair.
- A repository meeting was held on March 8th.
- Four volunteers helped catalog Big Books, service manuals, and other materials—the storage locker is starting to get organized.
- The committee encourages members to join them one Saturday a month for their work sessions from 9 AM to 12 PM.
- The storage locker is located at Go Store It, next to the Quincy Adams train station.
- Corrections (Courtney)
- The committee experienced a Zoom bombing, but the tech team quickly resolved the issue.
- They are discussing ways to spread the word and are seeking additional support.
- The next Corrections Committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday the 27th at 7 PM.
- Joint Treatment Facilities (Mike C)
- Last month’s meeting was cancelled for NERAASA

- Updated information from the last Area Assembly has been entered into Fellowship Connection.
- The committee is currently working with Districts 18 & 19 to clean up and update their databases.

- The committee met in North Andover and conducted a walk-through for the upcoming Pre-Conference Assembly on April 6—everything is expected to run smoothly.
- Setup included connecting the Owl, logging into Zoom, configuring surround sound speakers, and completing the AV setup.
- The assembly will be Zoom accessible, and the link will be available on the website.

- Following District 10’s successful model, which hosted a 2-hour “Slices of Service” event to encourage service participation.

Put up new shelving & the code for the room is fixed

Corrections (Courtney)
Had first meeting with new chair & secretary
Billerica Jail only having 3 meetings a month now. If anyone attended there, suggests going to a different district in Middlesex County to see if anyone is willing to chair or do a meeting.
Juls (District 1&2): Going to Barnstable House of Corrections if anyone would like to join.
Fred (MCI Shirley): Puts out a weekly meeting at the Medium facility. If anyones interested in that, reach out, as it takes a while to get in. Doing orientation this Spring.
Andrea (MCI Framingham): Looking for more women if anyone is interested. Coutrney has signed up for this in August and still hasn’t been approved. Reach out if anyone.
Joint Treatment (Mike C)
Going to start to use the Worcester Intergroups Calendar system to fill the commitments for treatment centers.
This is a very nice system that is going to help facilitate meetings and is going to take over the current Google Calendar.
Tech Committee (Paul)
Moving meeting back an hour so Paul can attend.
Going over the transition of email addresses to get into their different accounts

75th General Service Conference Committees
Discussed some agenda items which are mainly some proposed changes for the following topics: Professional Community, Corrections, Finance, Grapevine/La Vina, Literature. Policy/Admissions, Public Information, Report and Charter, Treatment and Accessibilities, Trustees, Archives, & International Conventions/Regional Forums
GSR’s are asked to bring the agenda items back to their groups and generate feedback for discussion to be held at the next assembly in North Andover
2/3 vote needed in New York out of 135 members for all proposed changes
Agenda is on the district email, Doug will add to the website
Spring event
Need to work with Registrars Office to get an updated list of all groups/meetings
As Chair, Matt will send out an email to the full GSR list to see if people respond and are interested in doing an event, whether it be a breakfast or lunch.
Will determine whether this is a worthwhile event depending on response
